Tripura government limits paper use in state offices

The BJP-IPFT Tripura government has imposed limitations on the printing of paper in government offices and has urged the public to stop misusing and wasting paper.

The general administration, headed by the Chief Minister, issued a missive asking public servants to take printouts only when it is important. Various guidelines like printing both sides of the paper as opposed to single side and keeping the line spacing minimum were also stressed.

The principal secretaries and government departments have been requested to make optimum use of government resources as paper comes from trees and wastage of paper leads to environmental decay.

The memorandum also stated that a large amount of paper is wasted every day in the name of draft correction and that the perusal of drafts should be done in softcopy itself.

According to estimates, the state can save Rs 20 crore annually by reducing paper use.
