Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) Guwahati chapter is organizing a 5-day training program on Dementia Care Skills at Dementia daycare centre, H.N-35, Arunudoi Path, Hatigaon for professionals and students from Psychology, Nursing, Social work and Geriatric Care.
The training is from 26th August – 30th August, 2019. Renowned Assamese writer, Editor of 'Nandini' (Assamese Monthly Magazine) Maini Mahanta will be present at the opening ceremony as Chief guest.
This is a first of its kind and aims to create a pool of professionals across NE who can provide the required services to families affected with this disease. This is free of cost training and all participants post-training will be certified to conduct more of such programs in their respective communities. The training will be conducted by experts from Guwahati and from Mumbai.
Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) is a non-profit making organization working in the area of Dementia.
ARDSI has received full membership with Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) UK, a federation of national associations from 77 member countries from all over the world. There are 20 chapters across the country with the Guwahati chapter being one of them.
The ARDSI, Guwahati chapter was conceived on 2012 and is running a dementia day care center at Hatigaon which is the only facility in the whole of North-East. This centre has been functional since 2015 and is a platform for people affected with dementia to engage in various therapies and activities. Apart from that, ARDSI conducts awareness programs, memory screening camps and runs a memory clinic.
