A total of 272 TET teachers in the state have filed PIL at the Gauhati High Court seeking regularisation of their jobs. This was followed by the court on Tuesday issued a notice to Education department and central government in this regard.

Despite the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) stellarperformance in Assam in the recently held Lok Sabha polls, the ruling party inthe state seems to have utterly failed to provide people with job security.

Earlier, the TETteachers claimed that as per the 2016 State Assembly Election Manifesto, theGovernment of Assam-led by BJP had earlier promised to regularize of thecontracts of TET qualified teachers, however, in the past three years there hasbeen no such development.

The TET qualifiedteachers also informed that earlier several memorandums were submitted to theChief Minister and the State Education Minister urging for the regularizationof their jobs, but the Government failed to pay heed to the matter.
