Tarun Gogoi Cremated with Full State Honours

The last rites of the former central minister and seven times MP Late Tarun Gogoi have been performed with full state honours at Navagraha crematorium on Thursday at around 3:30 pm. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and other political leaders and fan followers attended the funeral. Assam Police played Lead kindly Light tune at the funeral. Religious prayers have been performed at the funeral.

The funeral procession of Gogoi started at 7 am from Sankardeva Kalakshetra where his mortal remains have been kept to pay tribute by his fan followers. The mortal remains have been taken to his government residence where his family members paid last tribute. From there, the mortal remains have been taken to Rukminigaon Church, Zoo Road Naamghar, Bura Jama Masjid, Ugratara Devalaya, and finally to Navagraha.

The political leaders paid floral tribute for the last time in the mortal remains of the former Assam chief minister. Assam in-charge of Congress Jitendra Singh also attended the funeral of Gogoi in Guwahati.

The members of Purna-Silpam has taken the footprints and hand prints of Tarun Gogoi at his residence by following the rituals.

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) will distribute the ashes in all the districts and blocks.
