Although Assam ranked first which has cities with population less than 1lakh as the cleanest city in Swachh Survekshan 2020 survey results declared on Thursday, Guwahati's rank gone down to 356.
Guwahati which secured 303 position in 2019 secured 356 position in 2020. However, the other cities in the state have secured positions in different categories.
The Swachh Survekshan 2020, conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affair, has declared Jorhat as the "cleanest city" in the northeast zone.
We congratulate Jorhat from Assam for being awarded 1st place in the "Cleanest City (Population between 50,000-1,00,000) North-East Zone" category," tweeted Swacch Bharat Urban.
Apart from Jorhat, four more cities of Assam have secured positions on the list of cleanest cities this year. The cities are Tezpur, Diphu, Sivasagar, and Karimganj.
Tezpur secured second position in the Northeast zone as the cleanest city while Diphu has been recognized as the most advanced city. Meanwhile, Tezpur also recognized as the best city according to public votes.
On the other hand, Sivasagar has been awarded the first position for best work and Karimganj has been awarded for self-dependent city.
Indore in Madhya Pradesh retained its position as the cleanest city in India for the fourth consecutive year, according to the Swachh Survekshan 2020 survey results.
Surat ranked second and Navi Mumbai bagged the third position.
