Assam BJP President Bhabesh Kalita on Thursday announced that Thowra Congress MLA Sushanta Borgohain will join the saffron party on August 1.
Speaking to the media after meeting BJP National President JP Nadda in Delhi, Bhabesh Kalita said that Phani Talukdar will also join the party in the last week of August.
Sushanta Borgohain will be the second MLA from the Congress party to join the BJP after the saffron party comes to power in Assam for the second time.
As per reports, Borgohain has already sealed the deal with the BJP.
The BJP state president also condemned the statement made by the Mizoram MP K Vanlalvena issuing a public death threat to the Assam Police. "If they come again, we shall kill them all," he said.
Kalita further urged not to give such a statement in the future as it is not a clash between two countries but a clash between two states which can be resolved.
