Suo-moto case against Dr Hiren Gohain sparks protest

After the Latasil Police  station registered a suo-moto case of Secession against Dr Hiren Gohain, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) Akhil  Gogoi and Manjeet Mahanta for their recent utterance supporting independence from India, under Sections 120(B), 121, 123 and 124(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), there has been a massive uproar against the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP)  government in the state.

Various organisations and political parties labeled the BJP a fascist government and said this would lead to more severe situation in the state in the upcoming days.

This statement has caused great uproar in social media both for and against. However intelligentsia of Assam decried the police move pointing out that Dr Goswami's statement was more of seeking attention from the Centre not propagating secession.

All India United Democratic Front 's (AIUDF)  Aminul Islam called and press conference and said that the Suo-moto case against Gogain is unfortunate. AIUDF also praised Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for splitting with Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) and KMSS for their stand against the bill.

Former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi also reacted and said the state government wants to suppress the voice of Assamese people and the have proven it by registering a case against Dr Gohain.

All Assam Students Union (AASU) chied advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya said that the BJP government wants to impose the Citizenship Bill at any cost  through their fascist ideology. Bhattacharya said that the BJP government has shown their  true color by registering case against Dr Gohain.  AASU also cleared they would continue their protest against the Bill.

Former Chief Minister of Assam Prafulla Mahanta also referred the case against Gohain unfortunate and said it is a symbol of impending misfortune for Assam.

"This was a suicidal move by Government. We are meeting now and soon shall chalk out more protests programs against this draconian attitude of Assam Government "said Mr Haidar Hussain.

"This is a sadist move by Government of Assam. This is going to have serious issue" warned Mr Akhil Gogoi, President of the KMSS.

Journalist and Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS) adviser Lachit Bordoloi said that it is a personal attack at the  literary critic, poet and social scientist Dr Gohain.
