The second phrase panchayat election is all set to held tomorrow in 10 districts of Assam. The counting of votes will take place on December 12. Several thousands of security personnel have been deployed for the smooth running of the first phase polls.

In the second phase, 10 districts will go for polling on December 9. The districts are – Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar, Goalpara, Cachar, Hailakandi, Karimganj and Hojai.

Re-polling was also held in 15 booths in seven districts that voted in the first phase on Wednesday, which ended with a turnout of 73.16 per cent voters, state election commissioner HN Bora said.

Of 9,428 polling stations, 4,475 are comparatively safe, 3,087 sensitive and 1,866 are very sensitive, informed the state election commissioner.

A total of 64,21,518 voters will cast their votes in the second phases of the elections. A total of 35,056 candidates are in the fray in the second phase.

Meanwhile, 292 candidates were declared elected unopposed for the second phase in Assam Panchayat Polls, 2018 – according to the reports of Assam State Election Commission.

The polling will start from 7 am to 5 pm.
