A teacherof the Srimanta Shankardev Academy (SSA), Guwahati, has been arrested under Protectionof Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, on Thursday evening. The DispurPolice arrested the teacher based on a case registered at the PS regarding sexuallyharassing a Class-III girl-student of the SSA.
As per the reports, the teacher allegedly harassed the student inside the school campus. The incident reportedly took place in March. The school authorities have already informed that they have temporarily suspended the teacher. The parents of the student have also lodge complaint at the CBSE office regarding the incident.
However, several former and present students of the school have stood in support of the teacher. "We have known Sir for almost twelve years now. Sir is a total fatherly figure," said a student of SSA. "This is a baseless allegation," added another student of the school.
