South Karimganj MLA Siddique Ahmed tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday evening. He was admitted to a private hospital at Silchar after he complained of a breathing problem.
Siddique Ahmed has been hospitalized on Wednesday after his health deteriorated. According to family sources, he was suffering from mild fever and developed a chest pain on Wednesday. He was also having difficulties in breathing.
Dr. Abu Nasar Md Masroor diagnosed MLA Siddique Ahmed at a private hospital and later hospitalized. The doctor informed that Ahmed was suffering with shortness of breath, cough and fever. The doctor informed that he has tested negative in the Rapid Antigen Test. "I have suggested for a RT-PCR test for confirmation whether he is infected with COVID-19," Dr. Masroor informed.
According to sources, the MLA has been admitted to Green Heals Hospital in Silchar.
He has been infected with the virus after a RT-PCR test was conducted as referred by his doctor.
Ahmed has been shifted to COVID ward immediately.
It may be mentioned that Assam reported 3,756 new cases of coronavirus, taking the active caseload of 47,081. The positivity rate of the state on Thursday is 3.07 per cent.
Further, 51 Covid related deaths were registered today, while, 5,123 cases were discharged.
The districts with the highest caseload are: Kamrup Metro (323), Cachar (291), Sonitpur (265), and Tinsukia (236). The new cases were detected out of 1,22,313 Covid tests.
The recoveries have climbed to 3,97,929 with a recovery rate of 88.39 per cent.
The total fatalities have touched 3,844 with a death rate 0.85 per cent.
The overall caseload of the state stood at 4,50,201.
