Solar campus at Royal Global University

Royal Global University (RGU) has installed a 330 KW Solar Panel to address rising energy costs and at the same time to promote energy education. Solar Campus, an outcome of 'daylight harvesting', is an initiative by Royal Global University (RGU) to help reduce RGU's carbon footprint, using smart lighting techniques and energy efficient lighting all over the campus.

RGU supports renewable energy education, energy efficient and environmental stewardship, by providing teachers and students with interactive learning experiences and training materials. This partnership will help initiate and promote student research, education and outreach on solar technology. In this pursuit, a Faculty Development Programme was organized at Royal School of Engineering & Technology on a very relevant topic viz. "Recent Trends in Energy Sector (with special emphasis on North-East)" from 18th-23rd June, 2018.

Also, efforts are being made to improve resource efficiency in operations, especially for key resources like energy and water.

RGU has adopted the "3-R" (Reduce, Recycle and Reuse) philosophy of Government of India, for all types of wastes, prevention of pollution and disposal of wastes; in line with regulatory requirements or beyond industry best practices as well as LED lighting in place of conventional lighting across all areas.

Regular awareness programmes are held, emails are sent and practical training are imparted to the students of RGU. Indian Green Building Council tagged it with the honour of being the winner of the 1st Platinum Rated Green Award', so far as institutions in Eastern India are concerned.
