The AssamGovernment has decided to construct entry gates at Borjhar and Khanaparareflecting the heritage of the state. The decision was taken in a reviewmeeting on Thursday to discuss the implementation of Smart City project underthe Chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

CM Sonowalalso announced that a state-of-the-art stadium near B.Barooah Cancer institutehaving facilities for indoor and outdoor games will be constructed soon. The CMalso announced the construction of 1.3 km iconic bridge at BrahmaputraRiverfront as a part of the smart city project.

Sonowal alsosaid that homes for homeless will be built and directed the officials of GuwahatiDevelopment Department to carry out a survey to identify the homeless people inthe city and asked them to develop the available space on the lower parts ofthe flyovers as night shelter area for the homeless with proper sanitary toiletand other modern facilities. He also directed the officials to arrange doubleparking facility at the middle part of the flyovers wherever available.

During thereview meeting, Sonowal also asked the concerned department to expeditiouslyearmark the boundary of Deepor Beel so that steps could be taken to make thewater body free from pollution.
