Silchar: Sushmita Dev loses seat

One of the Lok Sabha constituencies of the Barak region, Silchar, which had witnessed enormous support for PM Modi, Amit Shah during campaigns, has not let down the party as it has given its mandate in support of the BJP candidate Rajdeep Roy.

Roy winning with 499414has defeated Congress' Sushmita Dev by a margin of 81,596 votes.

Although the differencewas not that huge as compared to other BJP-won constituencies, yet seeminglypeople voted against all family centric politics as the other instance beingthat of Amethi.
