According toSwachh Survekshan 2019 results, Silchar in Assam has been recorded as the thirddirtiest city in India with an all India rank of 423 among 425 cities of thecountry.
According tothe survey of Swachh Surveskshan, Indore has been ranked as the cleanest cityof the country followed by Ambikapur in Chattisgarh at second and Mysore inKarnataka secured third position.
Moreover,Dibruagarh district in Assam betters Silchar with only few points and earnssecond position of the dirtiest city of Northeast and the dirtiest of thestate.
Dibrugarh islisted in the 415th position by Swachh Surveskshan.
Assam ChiefMinister Sarbananda Sonowal, who always speaks of Swachh Bharat and urgespeople to keep the state clean and healthy belongs from the second dirtiestcity Dibruagarh.
Meanwhile,Gangtok ranked the 275th position nationally and is listed as the cleanestamong the capitals of Northeast while Guwahati which ranked the 303 positionnationally is the second cleanest capital city of the Northeast followed byImphal with the rank of 343 at the third and Itanagar at its fourth place whichranked at 378 nationally.
On the otherhand, Kohima ranked at 382 is in its fifth position followed by Agartala insixth position with 367 ranks. Shilling ranked at 394 with seventh positionwhile Aizawl ranked at 398 positions placed at eight.
SwachhSurvekshan is an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in citiesand towns across India which was launched as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,which was aiming to make India clean and free of open defecation by October 2,2019 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also declares the country as opendefecation-free on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at Ahmedabad.
