Sikkim opposes Centre's decision of allowing expeditions to MountKanchenjunga along with 136 other mountain peaks in the country.
The Sikkim Bhutia Lepcha Apex Committee (SBLAC) lashed out at thegovernment and has demanded the immediate withdrawal of the notification.
SBLAC convener Tseten Tashi Bhutia said that they condemned themove of the Centre which allows expeditions to Mount Kanchenjunga and demandedimmediate withdrawal of the notification saying that it hurts their sentiments.
Bhutia said that Kanchenjunga is not just a peak but theirguardian deity and therefore they cannot allow expedition to it.
The Sikkimese considers the Kanchenjunga mountain peak as God andan abode of Gods and they firmly believe that the legendary Yeti roams on itsslopes and expedition to the mountain would disrupt balance and would anger thegods.
