Sikkim CM Meets Amit Shah

Sikkim ChiefMinister P S Golay has called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday at NewDelhi and urged the central government to reserve seats in the SikkimLegislative Assembly for Limboo-Tamang communities.

Golay after meeting Amit Shah has placed the demand to the Centre for reservation of seats in the Sikkim Assembly for Limboo-Tamang communities as it was pending for the last several years as a result of which the communities have remained deprived from enjoying their political rights.

The newlyappointed CM of Sikkim has also congratulated Shah and extended warm greetingsto him as he assumes the office of the Union home ministry for the first timein Modi's Cabinet.

The chiefminister also highlighted the provision of Article 371 F of the Constitutionduring the meeting, which is the greatest gift to the Sikkimese people and thatit needs to be preserved, protected and implemented both in letter and spirit.

Golay also placed demand for inclusion of the 11 left-out communities of Sikkim in the list of Scheduled Tribes (ST) so as to bring equality among the Sikkimese people. He also urged the union minister to extend support for solving issues of water supply, power and road construction in the border areas under the Border Area Development Programme.
