In view of the upcoming Rongali Bihu festival in Guwahati security personnel have come up with initiative to step up security arrangements to thwart any untoward incident during festive season. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamrup (Metro), Virendra Mittal, has appointed a number of administration officers to monitor the city's Bihu celebrations and ensure its smooth conduct.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) is given special to maintain a close watch on the situation to foil any untoward incident in the city. Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Nabadeep Pathak , Guwahati circle officer (CO) Damodar Burman and  Chandrapur CO Pallabjyoti Nath will monitor central district.

All the teams will also have representatives from Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), city police, forest department, Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL), Public Works Department (PWD), and District Transport Office (DTO).  The joint Police Commissioner advised people in the city not to vacate the whole house and go to watch Bihu function at late nights.
