A felicitation ceremony of the 90th birth anniversary of Laxmikanta Mahanta, a leading man of the cultural heritage, a saint of Sattriya culture and Satradhikar, was organized. The special event was organized on Sunday under the initiative of Sivasagar District Sahitya Sabha in association with District Satra Mahasabha, Sivasagar Yuva Dal and Sri Sri Sankardev Samaj.
It is pertinent to mention that Laxmikanta Mahanta is a saint of Sattriya culture as well as a pioneer of indigenous industries of Assam. On the 90th birth anniversary of this eminent personality, the event in Sivasagar can be described as a special recognition of his work.
Prakash Mahanta, Associate Editor of Assamese Pratidin, was the guest of honour at the special occasion. Mahanta gave a theoretical explanation of the life cycle of Laxmikanta Mahanta.
"Laxmikanta Mahanta is a Sanskrit scholar. Along with preserving Sattriya culture, he is engaged in productive work to strengthen the economy. The energy that is needed to build a society beautifully by connecting the teaching of schools, the culture of the satra and productivity through the industry, as well as the marketing system; That power has been energized by Laxmikant Mahanta," said Prakash Mahanta.
Meanwhile, on this special occasion, the book 'Abhikarshan Abhidarshan', which highlights the life of Laxmikant Mahanta, was released. The book has been edited by Dr Arundhuti Mahanta. The book was released by litterateur and linguist Basanta Kumar Goswami.
Eminent litterateur Dr Nahendra Padun along with Dr Nirupama Mahanta were the guests of honour on the occasion.
