Saina complains about badminton court in Guwahati

At a time, when Assam Chief Minister is continuously claiming to build Guwahati as the 'Sporting Capital of India', ace Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap have complained about the badminton courts at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium in Guwahati on Thursday.

Prior to the mixed-doubles pre-quarterfinals match of the 83rd Senior National Badminton Championship at Guwahati, Saina and Parupalli have complained about the badminton court at the stadium, following which Assam Badminton Association has been preparing to improve the court. Meanwhile, the match has been rescheduled for evening.

In the unusual incident in CM Sonowal's proposed 'Sport capital of India', the wooden surface of the badminton court went down after few matches on Thursday. Saina expressed disappointment over the issue and informed members of the Assam Badminton Association about the condition of the court.

Taking to Pratidin Time, the former world no. 1 said, "After few matches, the wooden surface has gone little down." Saina further said that she does not want to take any risk at a court like this. "The only thing is because we have back to back more tournaments, I don't want to take any risk of injuring, so I told them already please try and sort this issue," said Saina.

Later the organizer informed Saina that by evening the issue will be sorted.
