Hima has strong challenge for a medal

Ace sprinter Hima Das gears up for the finals tonight at the 18th Asian Games. The Golden girl having qualified for the 400m final broke a 14-year-old national record with a timing of 51.00s on Saturday.

With her extraordinary feat at the World Junior Athletics Championships in 2018, the nation is waiting to see Hima at the medal podium.

Hima clocked 51.46 at the 400m in the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships but she clocked 51.13 in the Senior National held at Guwahati, which was incidentally her best.

Run Hima Run; is what Assam can be heard echoing to these days. Hailing from Dhing, Hima has come a long way and has a lot to further scale.

Her home environment has become festive-like with prayers and 'sarai' being offered at 'Namghor' and have left no stones unturned, to ensure her win, from their end. Not only her home town, supporters from the entire state have their fingers crossed hoping Hima would clinch the Gold.

Hima's personal coach Nipon Das is already by her side to support at this crucial hour. Also, Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has flown to Jakarta primarily to support Hima.

We from Pratidin Time wish Hima all the best for the finals!
