Replicas of 51 Shaktipeeths To be Set Up in Tripura

The Tripura Government has come forward to set up replicasof all 51 Shaktipeeths situated in the Indian subcontinent.

The Shaktipeeths are considered as the holiest shrinesof Goddess Shakti.

The Tripura government has decided to set up thereplicas in order to boost tourism in the North East and the government hasallocated 14.22 acres of land for it at Fulkumari Mouja under Udaipur SubDivision near Tripurasundari Matabari temple.

According to an official statement issued by the government,it said, "For common man, it is not possible to visit all 51 Shaktipeeths in alifetime. Therefore, the tourism department has decided to construct the exactreplicas of Shaktipeeths. This will also help to boost the tourism sector."

There are 51 Shaktipeeths in Indian sub-continentneighbouring countries, out of which 38 are in India, six are in Bangladesh,three in Nepal, two in Pakistan and one each in Tibet and Sri Lanka.

The tourism department of Tripura government hasprepared a preliminary project report of Rs. 44 crores to develop the replicas.A proposal has also been sent in this regard to the 15th FinanceCommission for consideration to fund the project.

To start with the state government has completed thedemarcation of the land.

The state government further said that the landdevelopment will be carried out soon by the tourism department from the SwadeshDarshan funds.
