After declaration of the AGP-BJP alliance in Assam, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, are in Agartala today to hold a meeting with the party's State committee, core committee and presidents of frontal organisations at the party headquarters to strategize plans for the upcoming general election.
Madhav is also scheduled to meet a delegation of the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), who is BJP's partner in the coalition Government in the State.
The IPFT on Wednesday reiterated that it would contest the Lok Sabha elections alone if it is not given the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat.
Speaking at a conference, IPFT's assistant general secretary Mangal Debbarma said that a five-member committee headed by party president NC Debbarma has already been constituted to select candidates for both the Lok Sabha seats.
Further, Debbarma said if the IPFT is allowed to contest from the East constituency, it would support the BJP candidate for West Tripura seat or else the party would contest both constituencies.
