Seeking justice against the shocking murder of State Bank of India (SBI) Dadara branch officer Junu Sarmah, members of the State Bank of India Officers Association (SBIOA) and State Bank of India Staff Association (SBISA) of the Northeast Circle took to the streets of Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati today.
The members are carrying out a candle light vigil in Dighalipukhuri to press the administration for an immediate action to nab the culprit and stop recurrence of the same in near future.
The members have condemned the incident and urge the authorities to take all necessary steps to find the culprit in the brutal killing of the officer. Hundreds of members have joined in the protest carrying placards demanding justice.
Junu Sharma was shot dead by two miscreants on Tuesday, after which the body was kept in Tularam Bafna Civil Hospital's morgue. On Wednesday morning, the body had been shifted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for post mortem.
According to reports, two persons on a bike shot the woman at around 7 pm Tuesday. The miscreants fled the scene after committing the crime.
The woman was an employee of SBI Dadara, who was returning from work in a Zen Estilo car with the registration number – AS 01AG 6869.
Police is still in search of the two miscreants but has not been able to find any lead, however, has detained Sharma's driver, Pranab Kalita, with interrogation still on. Police also suspect the involvement of the driver in the incident.
