Pro-talk ULFA leaders released from jail

Pro-talk ULFA leaders Mrinal Hazarika and Jiten Dutta were released from the Central Jail on Friday evening. Both of them were arrested on charges of making provocative remarks.

Hazarika and Dutta had recently threatened the Bengali Hindus of dire consequences for supporting the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, which seeks to change the definition of illegal migrants in the state.

After releasing from jail, Jiten Dutta said, "We will continue our protest in collaboration with Assamese citizens. Today, a massive protest against the Bill has been staged in the city successfully. We too have decided to start protest against the Bill again. We never tolerate such kind of decisions taken by Govt."

On the other hand, Mrinal Hazarika said to media that "Govt. shows their disposition by arresting us. The Bill would reduce the indigenous people in Assam to a minority. We will continue our protest against the Citizenship Bill. Just by putting us behind the bars, the government cannot shut our mouth."

The Pro-talk ULFA leaders were granted bail on Thursday. The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Kamrup (M) accepted the bail plea of both the leaders.

Earlier, Mrinal Hazarika was produced before the court after 14-day of judicial remand.

After completing the paper works, both Mrinal Hazarika and Jiten Dutta released today (Friday).
