Police rescues Tinsukia’s kidnapped man

The Sadiya police and Indian army, in a joint operation have rescued Tinsukia's missing businessman Khem Bahadur Chetri alias Sani Mahajan, who was kidnapped at gunpoint on Sunday. The businessman has been rescued from Majbaari on Tuesday morning.

Khem Bahadur Chetri was abducted by three masked men on December 16 from his buffalo farm at gunpoint.

Locals suspected that the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) was behind the kidnapping as a few days back Bahadur received an extortion notice by "some suspected ULFA-I militants".

The police have arrested two persons named Jayanta Dutta and Aanan Gowalla in connection with the kidnapping case. The third one is still missing. As per reports, there has been linkage of ULFA linkmen Mukti Asom in the incident.

However, it may be noted that three more who were involved in the incident are still on the run.

It may be mentioned that he mastermind of the kidnapping is Mukti Asom who has links with ULFA-I.
