Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have reached Baghjan gas well site in Tinsukia district of Assam on Sunday along with State Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to review the situation arising after a blowout that killed two persons and destroyed properties.
Both the ministers are taking stock of measures taken by experts to douse fire at the gas well site today. They are interacting with affected people of gas well fire incident at Baghjan Dighal Torong High School relief camp.
Dharmendra Pradhan assured the people of Baghjan the crisis will be resolved. He said compensation will be paid to the affected families. He also added action will be taken against officials who are guilty.
CM Sonowal also ensured that each family will be compensated. He assured biodiversity protection and setting up of a Model Hospital and Veterinary Hospital. Also, Maguri Matapung Beel will be revived.
The Union Minister reached Assam on Saturday and went through a detailed action plan to control the fire which has been developed in consultation with the foreign experts from Singapore in a review meeting yesterday. The review meeting was attended by CM Sonowal, state Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of State for Environment and Forest Naba Kumar Doley. Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna briefed the minister about the situation at the well site, while Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta informed the law-and-order scenario in Baghjan.
