Papon Organizes Online Concert for ‘Rongali Bihu’

SingerAngraag Papon Mahanta organized a special online three-day concert for thefestival 'Rongali Bihu' as this year Bihu has not been celebrated in Assam andother parts as well owing to the lockdown to fight against the novelcoronavirus.

The singerwas joined by popular singers from Bollywood and Assamese industry on April 15.

Singers whojoined Papon for the online concert were Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, BennyDayal, Shaan, Shantanu Moitra, Richa Sharma, Zubeen Garg,  Shruti Goswami, Nilotpal Bora, Joy Baruah,  Zublee, Antara Nandy and Hima Das. All ofthem sang various Assamese songs and interacted with the viewers. 

The social media concert that began on Tuesday, aims at enabling people to stay positive and entertained at home during this lockdown.

Papon comeup with a concept of celebrating this festival 'virtually' since every oneacross the country is fighting the COVID-19 outbreak by staying at home,

Papon says,"Rongali Bihu is the beginning of the New Year, it is the only festivalthat Assam celebrates. When I got in touch with a few of my singer friends theyhappily agreed to be a part of this. It is our collective and small effort tomake people smile especially when we can't go out and celebrate. I hope thisspreads positivity and hope that this too shall pass."

He also hada conversation with Zubeen Garg who also participated in the online Bihuprogramme.
