Manipur's ruling party BJP today informed that under the exisiting current political fiasco, following the pull out of NPF, "it will hardly affect the present coalition government."
Talking exclusively to Asomiya Pratidin, a highly placed BJP functionary also said that the possibility of government collapsing is very dim" as there 29 BJP legislators and is supported by 4 NPP and one each from LJP, AITC and Independent.
He even mooted that "it prefers to have re-election conducted."
Sounding confident, the senior BJP functionary further informed that "if there is re-election, it is without doubt that BJP will be able to win more seats than that of the 21 seats which BJP had won in the last election."
Earlier, NPF State Unit president Awangbou Newmai had told that the main reason behind the step is that "bigger parties are looking down on smaller/ alliance parties" and has not abide by a "certain agreement that was agreed upon during the formation of the coalition government back in 2017."
31 seats are required to form the majority government in the 60-member Assembly House.
The version came a day after NPF, during a meeting held at Kohima yesterday, decided to pull out it's four legislators from the current coalition government.
Revealing the agreement that was agreed upon when the process of forming government was on the card, "NPF had demanded two ministerial berth. However, it did not materliaze and only one legislator was inducted in the cabinet."
On Saturday, a NPF functionary also had confirmed its stand to withdraw from the government.
He also had maintained that "the decision will be made public after declaration of the upcoming Lok Sabha Election result."
Meanwhile, reacting to the recent development, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who is in the national capital, has stated that "maximum efforts will be taken to transform into action regarding the agreement that was reached between BJP and NPF when the process of forming government was in full swing."
