The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is all set to take over the probe into the brutal attacks on five persons and its violent aftermath, which devastated the law and order in Assam.

NIA Director paid a two day visit to the State recently to review the progress of the cases being investigated by the NIA in the region.

A team of the NIA led by the Superintendent of Police of Guwahati branch of the agency, visited Dhola immediately after the killing for an on the spot study of the incident.

The team submitted the report of the preliminary investigation to the NIA headquarter.

The NIA has submitted its report to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and it is likely to take over the investigation of the case immediately after receiving the green signal from the Ministry.

The government took the attacks "very seriously". They cannot overlook it as a simple militant act. It is an act of terror. Both state and central governments will deal with it the way terrorism is dealt with.

The home ministry is ready to help the state government of all assistance and said that if necessary, army assistance would be provided to the state government in its crackdown on the outfits.
