The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced pink coachesexclusively for women keeping in mind the safety and security of the femalepassengers in trains.
With a view to provide better safety and security to womenpassenger who used to travel by passenger trains either alone or with minors,NFR has initiated this step to introduce pink coaches in few of the trains. NFRhas decided to paint the coaches with pink colour so that it would be easierfor the females to identify the coaches during the rush hour in the morning.
The Rangiya Division of NFR has come up with this unique idea andthese exclusive coaches have been introduced in trains bearing numbers55817/55818, 55803/55804 and 55809/55810 which runs between New Bongaigaon andGuwahati. Similar earmarking has also been done in passenger train no55895/55896 which runs between Rangiya and Murkongselek.
The NFR stated that if this initiative would be successful thenthe pink coaches will be introduced in other trains as well. The official ofNFR said that the initiative might even encourage more women to avail the trainwhile travelling over long distances.
It has also been informed that the railway authorities will alsodeploy RPF and Ticket checking staff for the next few days to stabilize the newsystem.
