After BJP named Pallab Lochan Das as its candidate for the Tezpur Lok Sabha seat, the sitting MP of the constituency Ram Prasad Sharma on Saturday announced to form a new political party- 'New BJP'. Making this announcement in front of media at the LGBI airport in Guwahati, Sharma said, "The new party will be formed by the veteran leaders of Assam BJP, who were being neglected for 15-20 years."
Interestingly, RP Sharma had announced his resignation from the party after his name was not listed in the panel prepared by the State BJP and later claimed not to leave the party.
Attacking Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the MP said, "After Himanta joined BJP, the workers of the party started neglecting the veteran members of BJP." He further said, "I will form a new BJP along with all the old members of the party who didn't get their due."
Sharma also said, "I am not a Chowkidar, but would love to remain as the servant of public."
