The North East today woke up in nervousness not knowing theexact content of Naga agreement, reached last night, but would be announced bythe Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Hornbill festival.
Manipur is on the edge and there were protest till latenight and sensing trouble, the Ministry of Home Affairs has put out a pressrelease assuring that all sides of the taken into consideration.
This is creating anxiety and concern in some parts of thecountry, the MHA said, clarifying that before any settlement is arrived at withNaga groups, all stakeholders, including the states of Assam, Manipur andArunachal Pradesh, will be duly consulted and their concerns will be taken intoconsideration, the MHA statement said.
"No credence needs to be given to such rumours and incorrectinformation," the MHA added.
Notwithstanding, the Manipur remain on the edge. Meanwhile there are reports that NSCN (IM)demand for flag has been accepted by the Centre but with conditions.
According to Naga sources, the NSCN (I-M) can use their'flag' in pan-Naga Hohos, sports and special events of the Nagas. Official useof the flag at government functions, office campuses, and buildings has notbeen approved, sources added.
This is in keeping with the stand of the Centre to allow theNagas to use cultural flags but not political flags, sources said, adding, onthe issue of a separate constitution no meeting point was reached between theCentre and NSCN (I-M).
The talks yesterday were held in two phases in the morninghours and then again in the afternoon. Nagaland Governor RN Ravi, who is alsothe Centre's interlocutor, while its general secretary Th Muivah led the NSCN(I-M), headed the government side.
The NSCN source said they hope that Prime Minister NarendraModi will make some significant announcement pertaining to resolution of thevexed Naga problem, when he visits Nagaland to take part in the HornbillFestival on December 1. "It will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi's gift to thepeople of Nagaland during that time," a Naga news portal announced.
