Nalapara Firing Incident: 3 Arrested

In an operation by the city police on Thursday night have arrestedthree accused of the Nalapara firing incident from Chaygaon and Boko.

On October 13, a businessman from Barpeta named Jeherul Islam was fired at the Nalapara area in the city sustaining him severe injury.

The city police therefore launched the operation and arrested the three accused identified as Samir Ali, Jamir Ali and Safikul Islam. Police also seized an air gun and gold ornaments from the accused.

It may be mentioned that the Guwahati police commissioner who visited the spot after the incident on October 13 said that the miscreants fired at the businessman with a hand-made gun but police recovered an air-gun from the accused.

A police official, however, said that the accused fired the businessmanusing .22 bullets.

Meanwhile, police are interrogating the three arrested based on thecase filed against them under Case No 1773/19.
