Nagaland to Protect Livelihood of Street Vendors

The Governmentof Nagaland is set to implement the Nagaland Street Vendors (Protection ofLivelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) scheme and Rules 2019 with effectfrom July.

S Takatuba Aier, Mission Director for State Urban Development Agency informed about the implementation of Nagaland Street Vendors Act.

Aierdistributed 10 giant umbrellas among women street vendors on the occasion.

Aier furtherstated that the state government has enacted the Nagaland Street Vendors(Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Scheme and Rulesand that was published in the gazette on April 15.

He also saidthat both the scheme and rules would be fully implemented across all themunicipal and town councils of the state from July 2019.

Aierreiterated that the respective municipal and town councils shall constituterespective Town Vending Committee (TVC) once the scheme and rule comes intoforce. The TVC shall be constituted for allocation of proper space for thestreet vendors and also provide other facilities, besides looking into theirsecurity and welfare.
