ULFA (Pro-Talks) leader Mrinal Hazarika has been arrested by the Geetanagar Police around 3:30 pm in connection to case no 443/18 u/s 120B/153/153A/295A/506 IPC.
The Pro-talks leader was taken into MMCH for the medical check up before being taken to the CJM court.
Hazarika was summoned by Panbazar Police station on Friday after the tragic firing incident that occurred on Dhola in Tinisukia District. The Police summoned the leader suspecting a linkage with the Dhola mayhem.
The Assamese-Bengali war of words, fueled by ultra nationalism in both sides, led to the killing of 5 innocent Bengalis by unidentified gunmen.
It may be mentioned that Hazarika made provocative remarks on October 24 and threatened the Bengali people of the state, who have supported implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, that they would face 'mass killing' like situation during a press meet organised by Khilonjia Mancha.
Earlier, Hazarika also claimed in his statement that the land (Assam) is still safe only because of ULFA.
"No external force has dared to hit the Assamese sentiment till date only because of ULFA," Hazarika claimed.
