Midday Meal: AAMSU Demands Withdrawal of Contract from NGO

The All Assam Minorities Students' Union (AAMSU) staged protest across the state against the midday meals being served by the NGOs. The organization has staged the protest by burning the effigy of the state education minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya and raised slogans against him and the state government.

The AAMSU demands that the government should withdraw the contract thathas been given to the NGOs to serve the midday meal in the schools.

The organization also said that the government cannot play with thelives of the students and therefore the midday meal scheme should continue withthe old process of being cooked by the local people.

The AAMSU has also burnt the effigy of the education minister atHatigaon to protest against the poor quality of food that is being served tothe students by the NGOs.

AAMSU also demands the intervention of the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on the midday meal scheme.
