It may be mentioned here that the incident took place after a patient named Samara Manjhi breathed his last at the hospital. The attendants and locals alleged that there were no doctor and nurse when they admitted the patient. Following the death of the patient, the angry locals beat the hospital authority and Dr Deben Dutta. During the incident, Dr Dutta sustained serious injuries and referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), but unfortunately, he expired while undergoing treatment.

According to the authority of the Teok TE, the locked-out workers have not received any wages and other benefits until today. The management had asked for written assurance of discipline and good conduct from the workers.
