Updated on

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS)  has organised a 'Gana Satyagrah' in Guwahati after the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Friday cleared the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 would be passed on the ongoing session of Parliament.

70 other indigenous organizations of Assam  also took part in the 'Gana Satyagrah'. It is to be mentioned that KMSS's indefinite hunger strike against the bill is still on at Chachal.

All Assam Students Union (AASU) has also called for a meeting on Monday to discuss the issue with 30 other organisations.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday made it clear that the government is going to pass the much debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 on the ongoing session of the parliament. While addressing a huge gathering at Silchar in Barak Valley, the PM said, "Our government is also working to get the Citizen Amendment Bill passed in the Parliament."

The indigenous organisations of the state has not only opposed PM Modi's announcement but also has appealed the Assamese people to gear up for a massive protest against the CAB.

However, after PM Modi's announcement the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma along with other ministers could be seen clapping their hands with jollity supporting the implementation of the bill.
