AASU and Niloy Dutta, two members of the high powered Clause VI committee today released the Clause 6 report that suggests measures for the protection of the indigenous people of Assam, five months after it was submitted to the Government.
The report was prepared in consultation with 500 organizations and individuals was submitted by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to the central government on February 25 which was undersigned on February 10 this year.
"We do not know where the report is? Is it in the chief minister's almirah or somewhere? Has it been sent to Delhi? It is not acceptable to neglect the report this way," AASU's chief advisor Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharya said.
The core proposal of the report suggested that the Assam Accord must be fully implemented in a time-bound manner, so as to facilitate detection, deletion, and deportation of foreigners in Assam. However, even after five months of submission, the report wasn't released.
