Around 95 percent of the Kaziranga National Park has been inundated and the flood water level is showing a rising trend. This was stated in a flood report shared by the Office of Divisional Officer, Kaziranga National Park with the media fraternity on Monday.
According to the report, out of the total 199 camps in the national park, 158 camps have been inundated.
On Monday, 18 camps were shifted.
The report further informed that till Monday, 17 animals have died so far out of which 9 were knocked over by speeding vehicles, two were drowned and five died to other reasons.
The report highlighted that eight hog deer were knocked off by speeding vehicle, one was drowned and five died due to various other reasons.
Speeding vehicles also knocked down one Sambar.
However, 29 hog deer were also rescued/under treatment by various agencies and local people.
