The Kamrup (M) district administration has formed task force who will monitor in the city on December 31 and January 1, said Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha.
He said that any individual who will drink and drive will be in trouble. "This year we will try to make the city free from accidents. No organizations or individual could party at hotels or restaurants on December 31," the Kamrup (M) DC said.
The Kamrup (M) DC further stated that everyone will have to celebrate New Year by maintaining the SOP issued for COVID-19 or else strict action will be taken against them.
Meanwhile, the traffic department and DTO are conducting drive against drunken driving in the city as per the instruction of the Chief Minister in order to prevent accidents in the New Year.
The Guwahati Traffic Police in a tweet said that 85 persons have been intercepted on December 28 for drunk driving and a find of Rs. 10,000 has been imposed on them and licenses have been suspended. "Last night, 85 persons intercepted for drunk driving. Fine of ₹10,000 imposed & drivers license suspended. So far, 380 persons have been booked. We want to assure everyone that all Covid related precautions are being taken during testing," the tweet said.
