Kamrup district administration is all set for the smooth conduct of Panchayat polls to be held on December 5 along with the other 16 districts of the State. It was declared by Kamrup DC Virendra Mittal in a press meet held on Monday.

The Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner through an order, declared dry day from December 3 to 5 and on the counting day of votes which is fixed on December 12.

All the educational institutions in the district are ordered to be kept closed on December 5.

The electoral process will be held from 7 am to 3 pm. A total of 686 candidates are in the fray.

As per information given in the conference, a total of 256 polling stations have been established in the district.

Adequate security measures are also taken to check any kind of untoward incidents and to maintain law and order during the poll day.

Mittal also appealed the co-operation of media towards peaceful conduct of the polling by generating democratic value in the minds of the voters.
