JPC submits final report on CAB

The most dreaded moment for the people of Assam has come as the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) has submitted its final report on the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 (CAB) in the Lok Sabha as well in the Rajya Sabha.

The faith of the native and indigenous people of the state will be decided today as JPC Chairman Rajendra Agarwal submitted the final report of 440 pages.

The Bill will be passed in the Lok Sabha tomorrow that is on january 08, which is the last day of the Parliament's Winter Session.

Amid mixed reactions, mostly opposing the Bill have been received by the JPC, who had come to Assam to meet the people and take their opinion into account. The JPC had also promised to return to Guwahati for a second meeting with the people to take opinions, however, nothing as such happened and the JPC have today submitted its final report.

Even as JPC is submitting the report, there are massive protests being staged across the state as well as in New Delhi. KMSS has staged a naked protest in the national capital opposing the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Black Day is being observed in the state with black flags being hoisted in front of the DC Office, BJP Headquarters and Chief Minister's residence in Dibrugarh.
