Titabar's Jayanta Bora's murder case has taken a new turn. A photograph of Bora has aroused strong reactions in the town of Borholla.
30-year-old Bora was found dead on June 15 and is suspected to have a custodial death.
The photograph featuring Jayanta Bora in a camouflage dress standing along with an AK47 rifle has surfaced that is creating a controversy. Presumptions are created among the public if the photograph was morphed or was he associated with any extremist or militant group.
Earlier, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had ordered a commissioner-level inquiry into the matter and entrusted IAS officer Lalit Gogoi to conduct the same. Gogoi will be present in Borholla on Monday to interact with the family, local organisations, and the public around.
Bora, son of Lila Bora of Borholla area under Titabor subdivision, died after being detained by a joint team of an army from 244 Field Regiment based in Charaideo and police of Borholla police station and Bokajan outpost in Titabo at around 1 am on June 15. He was admitted to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital where he was declared dead in the morning.
