Skipper Bartholomew Ogbeche's 87th minute thunder strike from outside 25 yards helped NorthEast United secure a late late win against struggling defending champions Chennaiyin FC as the 5th edition of the Hero ISL resumes.
The Highlanders dominated possession through out the majority of the match and created plenty of goal-scoring chances but failed to break the deadlock early in the match due to poor finishing. Reagan Singh, the Manipuri fightback for NEUFC put in a fine shift all evening making his presence felt on both side of the pitch. Mizo teenager Puitea also displayed his maturity as the Highlanders pressed higher up the ground in the Chennaiyin half.
Chennaiyin took to pitch with only four foreigners and started the match on a positive note, but NorthEast didn't take much time to limit their opponents over the ball and dictate terms. The home side wrapped up all three points in their kitty and made their Playoff chances even more brighter.
