20-year-oldboxer from Haryana Sachin Siwach defeated his Argentine opponent Ramon NicanorQuiroga as all seven Indians in fray advanced to the next round on the Day 1 ofIndian Open boxing tournament in Guwahati on Monday.
Earlier,Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya attended the opening ceremonyof the grand tournament.

Apart from Siwach, Ex-world championship silver medalist Sonia Lather defeated Chandra Kala Thapa by 5-0 to reach the quarterfinals in the women's 57kg. Manisha Maun defeated Phillipines' Nesthy Petecio 4-1 in the 57kg category.
On the other hand, Preeti Beniwal outclassed her Nepalese opponent Sangita Sunar by 5-0 in women's 60kg. Similarly, Shahshi Chopra too had an easy outing against Bhutan's Tandin Choden as she defeated Choden by 5-0.
