India elected non-permanent member of UNSC, Assam CM congratulates PM Modi

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal mentioned in a tweet on Thursday congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the support the nation has received from the global community for India's non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

In a tweet earlier today, the Prime Minister stated, "India will work with all member countries to promote global peace, security, resilience, and equity."

India was elected to the UNSC as a non-permanent member from the Asia-Pacific category for a two-year term on Wednesday night. India was elected unopposed after winning 184 votes in the 193-member General Assembly.
