HSLC Results 2023: Social Science Tops List Among Letter Marks Holders

The results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) class 10 examination were announced earlier today and the highest number of students securing letter marks (80% or above) is largely inclined towards the Social Science subject.

According to official data, a total of 43,069 students have secured letter marks in Social Science, followed by 42,282 students in English, 18,734 students in General Science, and 16,531 students in General Mathematics.

Social Science, being a core subject, has evidently gained much importance in the lives of students and the numbers prove that the young minds are now politically and socially more cautious.

The results for the HSLC examinations under the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) were announced on Monday morning. The total pass percentage in the state has been recorded at 72.69 percent while the pass percentage in Kamrup (Metropolitan) district has been recorded at 77.18 percent.

Around 4,15,324 candidates appeared in the board examination. Of the total, 94,913 students secured first division, 1,48,573 students got second division and 58,394 students got third division.

While 18,653 students received star marks, 8,517 students bagged distinction marks in the examinations.

According to official data, the male candidates were able to surpass the female candidates this year, scoring a total pass percentage of 74.71 per cent as opposed to 70.96 per cent.

A total of 1,94,063 male candidates had applied to appear for the HSLC exams this year, while the number of female candidates who applied was 2,28,140. 

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also congratulated the students who have passed the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) class 10 examinations.

Terming the students as ‘Exam Warriors’, the chief minister congratulated them for their triumph and also sent a message for the students who are unhappy with their results.

He wrote on Twitter, “Congratulations to all #ExamWarriors who performed well. For those unhappy, remember~ One exam cannot make or break your career.Success is a result of perseverance & hard work. See your result as a beginning & not the end. You have miles to go, this is only a tiny step forward."
