The Central Government has cleared the appointment of Justice Hrishikesh Roy, another man from Assam as one of the Supreme Court Judges along with Justices V Ramasubramanian, Krishna Murari and S Ravindra Bhat.
.The Collegium had passed the resolution on August 28recommending the four High Court Chief Justices for elevation to the SupremeCourt.
Roy was the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court and the recommendation has been forwarded by the Law Ministry to the PMO for the Supreme Court selection panel to elevate four high court chief justices as judges of the top court.
The recommendation said that four candidates aremore deserving and suitable for being appointed as judges of the Supreme Court.
Roy is the second person after CJI Ranjan Gogoi to be a judge from Assam in the Apex Court.
