Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma today poked at Mamata Banerjee on the ongoing Sharada Scam issue saying that he was not as fortunate as her Police Commissioner to get Chief Ministerial Protection even as The Mamata Banerjee and Narendra Modi fight has got two men in the firing line- Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and former Trinamool leader Mukul Roy.
The ongoing saga between Kolkata and New Delhi brought back the Sharada spotlight on the two as CBI had evidently went slow on their case after they had joined the BJP.
The Indian Express today ran a front-page story detailing how CBI had gone soft for Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mukul Roy, both accused in the Sharada Chit Fund scam. In fact one of the accomplice of Himanta Biswa Sarma, Soda Gogoi sent more than 3 years in Alipore Jail.
The Congress picked up the gauntlet and taunted Himanta Biswa Sharma. MP Gaurav Gogoi tweeted- "Forget ideology, family or even poor Pidi, here is the real reason why a prominent politician in Assam joined the BJP."
His cryptic remark pointed to the infamous incident when according Dry Himanta Biswa Sharma's word when he met Rahul Gandhi, Gandhi scion was more interested in taking care of his dog Pidi than listening to him.
Dr Sharma too joined in the debate and circusticaly poked at Mamata Banerjee saying that he was not so fortunate like her Police Commissioner and he did cooperate with the investigation and that happened long before he joined BJP.
Meanwhile addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan here on Monday, Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi said, "The CBI stopped probe into Saradha scam in Assam immediately after Himanta Biswa Sarma joined the BJP."
"They are trying to cover up the scam in Assam," added Bordoloi.
While claiming that the Saradha chit fund scam happened in Assam at the initiative of Himanta Biswa Sarma, APCC vice-president Bordoloi also mentioned about the incident of committing suicide by Assam's former DGP Shankar Barua in connection with the scam.
"Even after such incidents in Assam, the CBI has remained silent," said Bordoloi.
Bordoloi also said, "On August 28, 2014, the CBI had carried out raids in Sarma's residence and the office of the news channel run by his wife."
After that, Sarma and his wife were also questioned by CBI sleuths in Kolkata.
